I've been having the worst difficultly with trying to join/burn two video files I have that I'm boarderline about to just give up. I've never had these issues in the past and I'm sure this is a simple solution so I figured I'd give one last shot to the pros here for advice. Also note that I have read just about every guide on the subject and can't seem to find the answer. Ok, here goes: 1) I have two .avi files I try to join in VirtualDub. I get an error message because they have two different sample rates. 2) I open the first .avi file in VirtualDubMod and under full-processing mode I save the audio as a .wav (I then do the same for the second .avi). 3) I try opening both the .wav files in HeadAC3he but I get the same error message each time ("Can Not Find Data Chunk!"). 4) I then open up the first .wav file in FFMPEG GUI and convert it to ac3 audio. I do the same for the second .wav file. 5) I then go back to VirtualDubMob, open the first original .avi up, disable the current audio track and add the new ac3 audio track. I then do a direct stream copy (now with the new, re-sampled ac3 audio track included). I repeat the same step for the second .avi. 6) I now am able to join both files in VirtualDub giving me one video file with an .ac3 audio track. 7) Here is where I run into my big hurdle. I still need to run the video through TMPGEnc since it has not been converted yet. However, TMPGEnc does not support ac3 audio so it does not read the audio track when TMPGEnc loads the newly joined video file. Help! That's all I can say at this point!
Assuming that you are using TMPGEnc to encode to MPEG-2 for a DVD, then you don't need it to open the audio. Just re-use the AC3 that you have.
Demux the .avi-->>set aside the audio--->>encode the .avi video to .m2v( mpeg-2 video stream)using TMpgenc.....now use the Mpeg tools found under File...mpeg tools....select "multiplex" and attach the AC3 audio stream to the .m2V....giving you a .mpg And shut down all the garbage compactors below the Detention center!
works great for combining avi files to make dvd, don't have the home page on me right no but just do a goggle search and you can find it, it has a trial version and what it dose it converts your files but it leaves a watermark on the movie as soon as you pay for the program the watermark will be removed, one of the best programs out there to do what you need to do, hope that helps happy burning have a nice day
Question: I ran the video through TMPGEnc Plus and I now have a converted .m2v video file. I ran the .ac3 track through the "Multiplex" setting and it gave me a .mpeg file of the audio track. So, I have the .m2v video and the .mpeg audio. Now what?
I wouldn't bother multiplexing. The authoring app has to do that anyway. Now what? What were you planning on doing on doing next before all these problems? Should be the same thing now. Author and burn.
The thing is when I burn a DVD like this the video usually comes in two parts. I join them, run the single video through TMPGEnc to covert it and then just drop it into Ulead DVD Workshop and burn a DVD. But this video has problems with the two original videos having different sample rates and now that's caused all these problems of separate ac3 tracks and .m2v movies. I've never had this much trouble but I've also never had to deal with the sample rate problem before. So again I ask, what's next? I need the end result to be one video file with the audio included so I can burn it.
Ulead can't accept seperate audio/video streams? Any halfway decent authoring app should accept elementary streams as input.
I tried out the ConvertXTODVD app and it's great! No muss, no fuss and a hell of a lot easier than any other method I've tried. This will be my new standard and I think anyone else who uses this app will agree.
