    hi all,
i am a newbie to codecs and all.downloaded a movie from the p2p (limewire pro)and am not able to play it.i have installed ace megacodecs pack6.03,ffdshow and xvid codecs..all to no avail.then i came to know about gsoft from one of your threads and used it.
    this is what it gave..,
    video:
    4cc:dx50/divx -- codec not installed.
    audio:
    mpeglayer3 (mp3) (0x0055) ISO/MPEG -- two compatible codecs installed.

i think i have a bit too many codecs installed already by what you guys have sounded in the other posts.help me out here...

also recommend me the best p2p to download movies.i am using a 256kbps connection without download limit.

    thanx

Both ffdshow and XviD can handle the fourCC DX50, plus surely along with all the other crap it installs ace mega codec pack would include DivX?
For XviD/ffdshow you need to enable DivX 5 support first or they won't decode it. DivX will of course handle it without setting anything. For ffdshow/XviD just select their decoder config from the start menu and enable DX50 support.

    thanx for the response celtic_d,

now gspot tells me that i do have the codecs needed but simply my header file for the avi is corrupt and hence no play back.help me if there is a way to fix this corrupt header file.

i have already tried avifix and divxrepair...no good.

also advice me on my shoice of p2p network to download movies...pls.

    thanx again.
