If you have a SATA and not an EIDE hard drive, then you can plug the SATA2 controller right into your hard drive. While the gigabit (1000) ethernet connection is preferable if you are setting up a LAN, most broadband systems don't even have download speeds faster than 10mbits, so you really won't see any noticeable performance difference between a 10/ 100 fast ethernet or a 10/100/1000 fast ethernet connection if you are just downloading from the 'net.

im sorry i meant sata 2 3.0 transfer speed instead of 1.5.i was reading the manual from the link you posted and they keep refering to sata 2 like its in the board but you have to get a controller and plug it in to the pci-e 1 slot if you want sata 2 transfer rates.am i right?is there such a thing?it seems to me if i plug in the sata cable to the sata connectors on the board i will only get a 1.5 transfer rate.am i right?thats what im confussed about.on this asrock motherboard you need to go buy a sata 2 controller for the pci-e 1 slot or you wont get the 300 transfer rate.am i right?im so green at this never built a pc ever.thanks for the help

according to the manual, you connect the sata cable to the sata 2 connector as don't need pci/e card as built into motherboard.

if using the sata 2 drive as windows drive than have drivers for the sata ready when xp asks for 3rd party drivers. does the board have a problem for the reason to update bios program?

yes it needs new driver updates for 7 different drivers[agp xp,usb xp,lan xp,audio xp,sata, sata 2,cpu xp]and the bios itself is bad they say needs to be reflashed.i guess the xp was screwed up in the board so they revised it.should i reflash the bios first?then how do i get the drivers to install?do i burn them on a cdrom or do i put each zip file on a floppy?[thats like 7 floppies.or do i unzip every file and put it on a floppy or cdrom?.will windows xp pro let me do that.i didnt go with x64 windows cause all over the forums everyone one was saying that alot of drivers are missing,i didnt want to chance that.thanks for helping me out first build a little nervous.so far everything is going good.got everything together ready to insall windows or flash but im checking here first so i dont screw something up before i power it up.i read the manual told me to f2 first and set bios, but i think i have to flash first right?then what

try flashing 1st but if needs to do that online than will have to install windows 1st. the only driver you need to worry about at 1st when loading xp is the sata driver, see how big the file is & if can fit onto floppy or not.

thanks i downloaded already.going to put on floppy.the flash is only 256 kb plus the awdflash, should i add a boot disc to the flash when i make it on floppy?and the sata 2 is 716 kb now thats the jmicron driver that drives the sata 2,should i also install the sata driver itself that driver is 2,350 kb they should all fit on seperate floppies right?am i getting it so far, also should all files be unzip and placed on floppy?thanks alot i really appriciate it
