tap f8 as the comp boots and choose safe mode, then choose the administator and from there you can go into the controll pannel and remove the password and then choose a new one..

should do the trick, if anything goes wrong then tell me.

some OEMs like Dell, HP...etc install XP with a blank ADMIN password.
It all depends who installed your XP.
The way I see it is you have 3 options
    1. WAR ...wipe and reload
    2. Inplace install, will wipe out your SAM, that is what you want , leaves all your data, ,,,on a healthy system..if you have viruses and spyware and trojans,,, bad sectors on your HD ..I would not do this .
    3. search google for a "password change tool" ( not warez ) it was writtin by a university guy in linux, you boot from the cd or floppy and it will allow you to change YOUR local admin password or actually any password on your pc....locall passwords only.

if windows boots up normally wait til the welcome screen and hit ctrl+alt+del twice and it will bring up the windows 2000 style login box.

Type administrator in as the username and whatever your admin password is and it will log you in.

from there you should be able to change your password in the control panel
