I have an old P166, that I know can not do it, so I must buy a new machine. BUT..... What card to capture That is my real problem. someone told me that with the PCTV - PRO, I could manage, I have read the card opinions, and 50 % says it is good, another 50 % says it is bad I am lostr.....really Help..... Thank You
try getting pinnicle studio 8 Analog (comes with PCI capture card) for around 129 U.S. dollars it should work , and yes it would have to be alot newer then a p-I 166
You have alot of options, get a better feel for what you want. 1.Cost: how much are you willing to pay 2.Quality: vcr is only so good 3.Speed: Are you looking for something that is fast answer those questions then post back. people will be able to help you more. p.s. look into an external device that will allow you to hook up your vcr into your pc, using firewire or usb 2.0(fast).That will allow you to build a pc with a good gaming agp card and still have the external use to do your video capture.
Sobriquet I am from Portugal and I think I am going to spent around 1.250,00 euros (+/- 1250 US$) to buy a new machine (P4-intel 2,4 GHz / HDD 60GB 7200rpm/ Asus board P4s8x ata 100 / Ram DDR 333 - 512 Mb /DVD Rom LG 16 x / Chaintech Geoforce Mx440 64 MB A capture card like PCTV PRO in Portugal goes +/- to 100 US$, Why VCD? well analog VHS tapes , got from TV, are not special in quality, so as someone said here that "What You Got, Will Never Be Better" I am thinking in putting them to VCD. Speed... well tmpgenc takes a lot to put 1,5 hours of movie to VCD, but that is not the problem, I have to do it if I want to preserve the films. Thank you very much anyway for Your comments. Wonderboy I think Pinnacle Studio 8 did not yet appear here, but... I am going to look for it. Thank You
