In a perfect world I would like to just have the drive be in my computer as if it were hooked up with the USB cable.
why would you hook a hard drive up to a router.a router gets hooked up to the ethernet plug on pc.routers are gateways for several pc`s to hook up to,not hard drives.a little confussed....
What you're talking about is NAS (network attached storage). Here's an article and a review on one of these. The PCWorld article has pricing info. http://www.snapappliance.com/custom.cfm?name=c_nepdetail.cfm&id=161&nav=news http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,119077,00.asp There are lots more products in the NAS world.
Tank you for your time. I have found a soulition Netgear offers a router and USB storage port built right into the router. You are able to plug in a external USB HD. Or any USB thunb drive for shareing across the network. Wanted to use the stuff I had But will be shelling out 100$ for the router Also offers VPN so I can connect anyware and 108Mbits of data transfer. Here is what I found http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WGT634U.php Anyone Knows of a better product Please Let me Know. Thanks Highl0w
