Hi, I would like to mod my wii, however the guy that has done my ps2 and xbox has told me it will me £90!! Thats over $170!!
I've seen the solderless chip, the D2cPro which would go with my chip according to the WiiTracker (I'll have to open it up to make sure). So the question is, do you think a mod noob like me can put this chip in?? Does anyone else have this chip?? Do you recommend it??
    Any replies appreciated.

    Hi

The modchip is not hard install as i done mine today...

to find out what type your wii is go to http://www.wii-chip.co.uk where you can insert your serial number and it will tell you what type of chip you need... i bought mine for 40sterling and it took 15mins to install

So it came from wii-chip ok? I got a DC2, I only bought it a week ago. Does the chip play your backups well?

Double check you haven't got the d2c2 chip, as only some of the d2cpro's will work with them (ones with the d2c2 compliance sticker).

I emailed wii-chip a couple of weeks ago and they didnt have any of these new chips in stock.

On the installation note, very easy to put in mine was up and running in about 10 mins.

I probably will get the triwing and have a go at opening it up first cause it would be good practice. Has anyone got a guide to opening one up?
EDIT: This is what comes up off of wiitracker
There is a 50% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2C

There is a 50% chance that the pins on your drive chip are not cut.

Whats your serial number? Mine starts LEH1809**** and mine turned out to be a d2c version 1. I googled it a couple of weeks ago and someone reported they modded a serial like LEH184**** i wouldn't take it as gospel, but i took a chance and came up lucky.
