For some reason my TDK 840G (yes with the latest firmware) is not recognizing the discs when I put them in. When it does, rarely, it reads it at 2x the speed. It just started happening last week and I've never had this problem before. Help!!!!

What brand/type blank media are you using? It could be media related.

TYG01...same discs that were burning fine until last week. I tried to switch another burner and it worked so I'm sure it's not connections or media. I also tried to flash it with the latest firmware from TDK and still nothing. Could be the drive gone bad?

Ty's are the good stuff. Shouldn't be the blanks. Try removing the drive in you device manager and reboot. That will let Windows reinstall the drive properly. That will make sure there isn't a problem with the install.

Is drive in DMA mode or has it reverted to Pio?

DMA...I will try to uninstall it from the Device Manager and Reboot...see what happens.
