I burn all my games at 4x and they all work fine.

What program are you using to burn the images?

Also, what games have you tried to burn and play?

I downloaded a bunch of ntsc games from gctracker.mine.nu:800. Eternal darkness, metriod prime 2, resident evil 2. I tried burning with nero burning rom with finalized option on at 4x. I have a good brain of dvd-r I am sure 100%. I also tried imgburn and the game loads a little bit then siads the disc is not readable. What other options should you have on nero burning rom to make a good bootable gamecube game. This dvd burner came with my emachine computer: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H552D. I not sure how good this burner ranks.

What version of Nero are you using?

Also, what brand of DVD media are you using? Even though you say it's good, doesn't always mean it is.

Has your laser's pot ever been adjusted?

Is video mode set to auto on your Viper? Some NTSC games won't load unless it's set to auto.

In any case, try using ImgBurn to burn the image and make sure nothing but ImgBurn is running on your computer while it's burning. If anything is running in the background such as p2p programs and torrent programs such as BitComet are open and running, rate of success for burns will drop significantly.

Also, I've never heard of that brand of DVD burner, so I can't really give you too much info on that. Make sure it has the newest firmware, since that could help as well.

No I have never adjusted my pot, but when I used to have my lite-on dvd recorder, I was able to burn gamecube games the same method using nero burning rom and the games worked so I don't think it's my pot. Nero burning rom is version 6.6.0.13. Does the newer version of nero burning rom not work for gamecube games? I hope it's not the fact that all games from gctracker.mine.nu:800 just don't work. I burned all my old games using 2x when I had my old burner.

Well, looks like the most notable difference is your burner. If you were able to play back-ups with your old burner, use that instead or just get a new for $40 off Newegg.

That version of Nero should work fine, since I've used it to burn games numerous times without any problems.

Also, I get games off Joh's GC Tracker all the time, and the only ones I've had problems with are a few of the Stinkycube releases that just refused to play (Fire Emblem for example). Everything else I've gotten there works fine.

This doesn't sound good. I don't want to believe that it's my burner that's the problem. It burns ps2 and xbox and other dvd data fine. This is retarded.

It is most likely your burner as sad as that is to believe. Why did you even change your DVD Burner if the old one was working fine?

My old dvd burner broke a while back ago. I decided to buy a new computer that came with this dvd burner.

    Bummer.

Keep in mind that GC's are a lot pickier than Xbox and PS2. I can burn Xbox games at 8x and have them play flawlessly on a Thompson drive, whereas anything faster than 4x is problematic on GC.
