Yeah so I got a FANTOM External HDD today and it won't work with my system. It comes up in device manager but under "Other" and is only listed as a USB 2.0 Device. It has an exclamation point on it and doesn't make that noise when a USB device is properly recognized on a computer. Now generally I would just RMA and get a new one but I tried it at my girlfriends house and it worked fine. Detected it and I even formatted it. It needs no drivers and is just supposed to be turned on and recognized. Can anyone help? I want to try to update my BIOs on my K8V motherboard but I don't know how. Also would updating my USB 2.0 drivers work? I don't know my mobo's BIOs version. The only thing I am afraid of. If I update my BIOs from say 1002 to 1007 will that break it? Do I have to update from 1002 to 1003 to 1004 to 1005 to 1006 to 1007? or can I just go straight from 1002 to 1007? Also would buying a USB card solve the problem? I need help guys! did you think of geting tech support from the maker of your hard drive? or going to your local computer repair place. i am sure there is help there if you just ask!
I did. The manufacturer didn't help me at all. He said to try it on another computer but not what to do after that if it worked on that computer. My local repair shop sucks they don't know jacks shit.
