my ps2 is doing some weird sh.. when i turn it on with a disc in it(cd,dvd, music, movie), it spins the media 4 quick times and then stops. when i go to the browser it say reading disc. then about 5 minutes later the disc icon pops up. it always eventually loads the media, but what do i have to do to get it to load the discs like it used to?
it's not the laser 'cause i just got a new one. i have a flip top so when i turn it on i can see the disc spin, then stop, spin, then stop, and so on. then it stops for a while, but the browser says its still reading the disc. then it starts to spin for real, then the disc icon pops up. the game ALWAYS eventually boots and plays with no problem from that point on. i think it might be the spinner, but that is a bitch to replace.
did you test the lens after you put it in?.... usualy reading takes place in the lens... and not the spindle.. usualy what happens is this turning on the ps2 makes the drive power up and the lens checks for media... the lens goes up sends the red light... and then spindle makes its 360 and then stops... this is the case when no media is in... when theres media in... lens checks... spin reads 720.. then spins faster... starts reading the sony area... and play game... now when the lens is bad or needs replacing the order just fails... inserting the media dont change anything... lens goes up checks spindle spins makes 180 or less and then stops... it ends there... if the lens still can read it does what yours does lol so its pretty f***** up... but who knows it might not be the lens... but if i were you i would check the lens again...
trust me, its not the lens because i tried the same lens in my friends ps2 and its starts up just fine
