okay whenever i startup my labtop and get to the login screen, i keep getting this error (whenever i type my login pw for my account the rror still comes up and for my "other users" account too...ive also tried using safemode but to no avail): mcafee activeshield has found a suspect file on your computer. macafee strongly reccommends that you scan your computer now. after that, notihng happens!what do i do? thanks
A couple of questions, since the info you provided is incomplete. When you say that nothing happens, do you mean that the thing hangs? Dosen't that window have any buttons on it? (Like OK, Cancel etc.) One more thing, do you actually have McAfee products installed on your comp? If not, the message may be from a virus, or a spyware or malware program.
on the message box theres an X(to close it) and an "OK" button. when i press either one, it takes me to my desktop screen but theres nothing there. it justs shows me my windows xp background and justs stays there and nothing loads(like my desktop icons). yes i do have mcafee activesheild installed. this is the first time this has ever happened. thanks
If it dosen't show the desktop icons, then you may have to load explorer. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to bring up the task manager. Click the 'Applications' tab on the top, then click 'new task' button on the bottom right. Type in 'explorer.exe' (without the quotes), and press Enter. The icons and the taskbar should appear now. Now, uninstall all your mcafee products, and then reinstall them again. If the proceedure requires restarting, do so,and load explorer.exe at startup if required. If you still face the problem, then chances are that your pc is infected. Try virus scanning with your mcafee and also scan with an antispyware program for spyware, malware etc.
Same problem with a twist....I have the desktop taskbar and icons but a blue background. I can't change it in properties because everythings greyed out. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
well actaully ashwin i count even openn up the task manager... nothing was working andi had to repeatdly turn off my cpu by pressing the button. but ive already reinstalled my windows so doesnt matter anymore. but i appreacaute ur help though l8r
sorry you had to get the hard way out. probably you downloaded something which was infected. yo may still have the setup file of that prog on your comp. i suggest you scan your full pc with antivirus and antispyware. make sure 'scan all files' & 'scan within archives' is selected in both. YOBUZZB, you may be having the same problem too. try scanning, or if it dosen't work (which mostly is the case), try formatting & reinstalling...good luck
