Do you see this picture here:

(Your xbox requires service) error after boot up

This is what I've done: I have a softmodded xbox and i wanted to access the extra two gigs of space on the hard drive. I used configmagic to unlock my hard drive. After i turned off the xbox and turned it back on it wont boot and now my xbox is broken!! Help!!
This is so frusterating, being a noob i've been so careful in modding my xbox. I've searched far and wide for tutorials and forums in how to do this properly this guy told me how to do it through a 'pm' and now i'm screwed.

Or maybe not. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? All the info i can give you is the led is flashing red and green. There is no number in the top left hand of the screen like the above picture shows.

    thanks

rebuild your harddrive with either the softmodded files or clean ms dash (search forum / download section). use the hdm tutorial. then, you need to lock your harddrive again. use your eeprom.bin key for this. i assume you made a backup. if so, no problem at all. if not, then you have a serious problem

Ok I'll be a little more specific and give you some info in how i might have dug myself into an even deeper:

-Again I used confimagic to unlock my hard drive on a softmodded xbox. (bad idea)
-I backed up my eeprom once i softmodded my xbox but just left it at that so it was stored on the hard drive. I never ftp to pc or wrote it down or anything.
-I used xboxhdm to try and lock the hard drive, but i couldn't figure out how to type the right thing. (I was told this would fix the problem)
-So then I built my hard drive from scratch using xboxhdm from a cd with new ms dashboard files. I thought for some reason this would produce the eeprom
-After rebuilding the new hard drive with a C and E file I figured out how to 'lock' the hard drive (it's the command: 'lockhd -a') When i tried that it searches for a eeprom on my cd. I never put a eeprom on the cd. I just thought it would be able to find it.
-At one point using xboxhdm i got to a screen that gave me this info:

    HDD Serial: 5D81F9T9
    HDD Model: ST310211A

    Detecting drive status:...
    serial: "
    HDD Firmware revision: 6.55
    Model: "
    Security Supported: Yes
    Security enabled: no
Security locked: no - (i'm guessing this is my unlocked hard drive)
    security frozen: no
    security account expired: no

    Ok so my question is:
What ways can you obtain the 'eeprom' for this situation?
Can it even be done? or is my drive toast?

    Thanks in advance!

well you were wrong.... the big problem is, after you did a rebuild of your harddrive, you wiped it clean. so the eeprom.bin that is automatically stored on your harddrive during the softmod (the one you DIDN'T backup) is also gone.
and it is this file you need to lock the harddrive (with indeed the command lockhd -a).

so now you are in the state that you did not backup the eeprom.bin and you wiped the drive clean (if it is some comfort, i too was in a similar position with my first xbox. bought one that was unlocked (error 5) and reformatted the drive (new dash install) without scanning the unlocked drive for the eeprom.bin using xplorer360! immediately after the rebuild, i realized my error and knew i was in a s^%t load of problems.

you have to build the eeprom reader to read out the eeprom on your motherboard, or get a modchip and use that to boot and lock your drive again (after which you can take the modchip out again). i did build the eeprom reader, it can even be done by someone who absolutely has no soldering skills (like me with my first xbox, still have the eeprom reader and the solder job looks like crap but it works. which is all that matters. so, my suggestion is to get the materials needed for the eeprom reader and make that one.

Does anyone know where or who i can buy a eeprom reader from? I think it makes more sense for me just to buy it.
