Hi, i don't use the welcome screen on my PC (XP). I booted up the PC and now the PC is asking me for a username and password. The user name already put in is NICKLY and the password i don't know. I tried all kinds of ways but nothing can get me in. Anyone know a fix, i really need help i go to hand in some work TODAY! I will be really grateful if someone knows the answer UPDATE: I got in, but everytime xp boots up and now loads the welcome screen the password request i had before pops up then disappears and the PC makes a beep. Also it makes my PC freeze on startup sometimes, so then i have to restart, Any ideas?
when you start your computer keep pressing F8 and when if finally brings you to a black screen with a buch of options to choose from (i.e. safe mode, safe mode with networking ect.) highlight the safe mode option and press enter. when you boot up in safe mode you will have the option of choosing administrator or the username you have been using. go into the administrator one. it shouldnt ask you for a password. at this point it will boot to your windows xp desktop. now go into start > control panel > user accounts > the account you have been using. then change the password for this account. reboot. this should work to reset your password. if this does not work for some reason. just let me know and i will give you some more ways to fix it. just post a reply and ill be back to check on you.
Hi, i've go into my pc again and its working fine. But when my PC boots up and i get to the welcome screen a different username and password request box pops up my PC beeps then it disappears and my PC gets stuck on "Windows is starting" i have to restart to get it going properly, it does this everytim which means i have to boot up, then hold the button down to turn the PC off and then boot up again. The password request that pops up is like one you get when you are on a network at a college etc.
