Thanks beforehand for anyone taking an interest. I was trying to play a copy of the new tiger woods and somehow I have ended up with error messages I have backed up and have a copy of xboxhdm that includes my eeprom. When the HDD is connected to my pc I cant rebuild from scratch as it says my HDD is locked. I have tries using atapwd which unlocks it but after rebooting the pc it gets locked again. The error message that I get is code 6 I have tried another smaller HDD from an old pc and followed the same process. This time the disk is UNLOCKED and this time when I boot up the xbox im gettng an error code 8. Whats the score here, any pointers from you teckies
ive not got a mod chip. would a chip fix it and make it easier in the future to fix if I got any other errors would it be possible to do something with another softmod xbox
no no no...i just said if u have a modchip use slayer but if u have soft mods use aid..to me there both the same thing
Not good... Doesn't sound like atapwd locked it with the right password, and now your Xbox can't unlock it anymore. Since xboxhdm couldn't unlock it, it probably didn't have the right EEPROM anyway, so when you used atapwd, something caused it to lock with something other than the original EEPROM. Basically, this means that hard drive is rather useless at this point. So, here's what I suggest doing. Since it doesn't seem as though you have the right EEPROM, and you hard drive is locked with the wrong password, the easiest solution would be to install a mod chip, and try to unlock the hard drive with atapwd again. Once it's completely unlocked, put the hard drive back in your Xbox and boot with the mod chip. Since a chip allows the Xbox to boot with an unlocked hard drive, everything should be fine once you flash the chip with the proper BIOS.
