as topic says id need lil help. im having iso rip of dvd on would like watch it with subs , but apparently have no idea of how to add subs n use em in mounted file. thanks in advance
If you just want to play it on the PC and if you have a separate subtitle file (like a .srt file) then 'VLC' media player can open the .iso and optionally load the the subtitle file - however I find this a hit or miss affair - sometimes the subs don't display. Other options are converting the DVD to AVI format and burning in the subtitles to have permanent (non switchable) subs. Or if you have a standalone DivX player, include the subs on the same disk as a separate file. A new DVD with switchable subs can be relatively simple (you lose the original menu) or complex (keeping the original menu). Most guides have you demux the DVD, then create a new DVD with the subs. Whatever method used, the timing of the subs must match the dialog of the DVD. If your subtitles were a PAL source (25fps) and they are to be used on an NTSC movie, the timing must be converted to 23.976 fps. My own preferred method is to convert the subs to the correct timing. Convert the DVD files (no menu) to one mpeg file. Load the mpeg file in DVD Flick along with the .srt file and author a new disk. Since the mpeg file is dvd compliant, DVD Flick merely demuxes/muxes the files, but does not re-encode - thus no loss of quality. If the subs are slightly off sync, it can be adjusted in DVDSubedit.
