Hi all, I am totally new to all of this and would appreciate your help.

I bought “The Box Super ( Starview 3 )” from Iwantabox.com, they recommended it as I live in Skerries, North Dublin, using N*L MMDS.

Problem is it fails to tune in any channels.

The N*L cable from the wall, is going into the Cable Input port,
The System Information screen displays – API Vers. 6.00e_E, Boot Vers 8.0 – Feb 4th 2008
From menu, I have pressed 1570, turned key EMU on and pressed set default key.

I just don’t know what else to do to get this unit working?

Gerry, the SV3 wont work on MMDS, it only works on true cable.
You`ll need The BOX "T" Get back on to them & see if you can sort it out ;)

I reckon its the firmware as I seen this happen with ver 6.00

Try do a factory setting and fresh installation and see if it picks up ch@nnels , if not then I recommend updating the later firmware.

    Thanks for the feedback guys/girls??;

Just to let ye know that I had first bought The BOX "T" from Iwantabox.com but they admitted they had
made a mistake recommending it in the first place, as it wont work on N*L MMDS in Skerries – they replaced it eventually with the Starview 3 box.

Yes, I tried searching channels on c&w or telewest but no joy..

So I’ll do what Celtic71 suggests - a factory setting and fresh installation and see if it picks up channels , if not then I’ll update to the latest firmware – anyone know what version this is??

Many thanks again for all suggestions -

gerry, you`ll have to flash the b0x with the latest firmw@re.
Use the 7.09 Beta & you should be ok. Have a look at celtics guide here >> http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/663923

You don't have any firmware on the box, so there is no way in the world you can access the Cas System Menu until you do have it flashed, you will only get FTA channels - go to here >>> for all the info.

    cheers mate,

I have followed all the info on the update page and i have tried to put all the different firmware in it but it always says flash failed and doesnt move off 0%.... could it be my cable? im using the null modem cable that came with it?

It is very possible and the most likely cause (if you are not using an adaptor they tend to be a pain) because thay look very similar but one is a straight through serial cable, but it is unusual to have one supplied with box, but it has been know. You are trying to load the 7.09 i take it, if you are going direct from PC with a NULL MODEM and the box is not recognised then it most likely has to be the problem.

So what if i buy a new lead or something?

i originally got the Box t not realising it was the wrong one and i managed to get the firmware onto that with the same laptop... but it was a different lead?

Did you send the lead back when you exchanged the box, because it is the same NULL MODEM and obviously you did have the correct one, do you know anyone that could lend you one before splashing out, I know they are very cheap on fleabay but maplins are expensive.
