I'm trying to back up a DVD I have, but I am running into problems. I used DVDDecrypter, followed by DVDShrink. To the highest compression, it was still to large for a normal 4.7GB disc. So I bought some DVD+R DLs and looked to back it up uncompressed. But I'm getting an errors. Don't know what it could be besides media maybe. Here's the log. Any ideas? I appreciate it: 1A20-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.59, size=160016 bytes, created 12/16/2003 8:18:06 PM Nero API version: 6.3.1.18 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Recorder: <TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532R>Version: HA04 - HA 0 TA 1 - 6.3.1.18 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 0 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 11 Drive is autodetected - recorder class: DVD+R9 DL recorder === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : FUJITSU MHU2100AT atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532R atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532 D: CDRom0 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1014MB (1038768kB) Free physical memory: 669MB (685760kB) Memory in use : 33 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 24.8.2005 NeroAPI 7:11:37 PM #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 DVD-Video files reallocation started 7:11:37 PM #2 Phase 114 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 7:11:37 PM #3 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 DVD-Video files sorted 7:12:09 PM #4 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 118 Reader running 7:12:09 PM #5 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 817 DRM: StartDrmRecording(RealRec:1, ImageRec:0, Copies:1) DRM: Beginning burn process. 7:12:09 PM #6 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 7:12:09 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 7:12:09 PM #8 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3172 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 7:16:00 PM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 246 Last possible write address on media: 4173823 (927:30.73, 8151MB) Last address to be written: 4028671 (895:15.46, 7868MB) 7:16:00 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 258 Write in overburning mode: NO 7:17:54 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2143 Recorder: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532R, Media type: DVD+R9 Double Layer 7:17:54 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 419 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 7:17:55 PM #13 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 813 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (CTransferItem) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 4028672 (4028672) = #4028672/895:15.47 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 4028672 blocks [TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532R] -------------------------------------------------------------- 7:17:55 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 984 Prepare recorder [TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532R] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; Session Closed, disc fixated Tracks 1 to 1: 1: TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048/0x00, FilePos 0 0 8250720256, ISRC "" DAO layout: =========== __Start_|____Track_|_Idx_|_RecDep_|_CtrlAdr_ 0 | lead-in | 0 | 0x00 | 0x41 0 | 1 | 0 | 0x00 | 0x41 0 | 1 | 1 | 0x00 | 0x41 4028672 | lead-out | 1 | 0x00 | 0x41 7:17:55 PM #15 Phase 24 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 Caching of files started 7:17:55 PM #16 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 4182 Cache writing successful. 7:17:55 PM #17 Phase 25 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 Caching of files completed 7:17:55 PM #18 Phase 36 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 Burn process started at 2.4x (3,324 KB/s) 7:17:55 PM #19 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 2344 Verifying disc position of item 0 (relocatable, disc pos, no patch infos, orig at #0): write at #0 7:19:50 PM #20 SCSI -1170 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1188 SCSI Exec, HA 0, TA 1, LUN 0, buffer 0x0A647000 Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR) HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK) TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND) Sense Key: 0x06 (KEY_UNIT_ATTENTION) Sense Code: 0x2E Sense Qual: 0x00 CDB Data: 0xAD 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x20 0x08 0x04 0x00 0x00 Sense Data: 0x70 0x00 0x06 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x0A 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x78 0x2E 0x00 7:19:50 PM #21 CDR -1170 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1614 Insufficient time for operation 7:19:50 PM #22 TRANSFER -27 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1614 Could not perform start of Disc-at-once 7:19:50 PM #23 Phase 38 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 273 Burn process failed at 2.4x (3,324 KB/s) 7:19:50 PM #24 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 828 DRM: DRM burn session terminated. 7:19:50 PM #25 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 857 DRM: Closing entire DRM handling. I'm not too good with logs, but since you have DL disc's have you tried using DvdDecryptor, Iso-read then Iso-Write. That should work, what movie are you trying to back up? Also does your drive support the dl disc's, I think the logs says it does, but then again I'm not too good at it.
REMOVE your serial number before people steal it. Are u positive that your burner is a dual layer burner? If it is you should follow OU812Ono's advice and just "iso read" and then "iso write".
Thanks about the serial #. It's changed. Where can I find info on using ISO Read/Write? Is this just Decryptor's way to create an ISO image? I'm trying to backup a Speed Racer DVD I bought a few years ago.
Yes, open DVD Decrypter, go to mode and press "iso read". Once it is done, put your dual layer disk in and press "iso write". Now, if your burner isnt a dual layer, you might have to remove menus or extra features from your dvd, manually and then put it in shrink.
hi noticed one thing in log [bold] CdRomPeripheral : TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532R atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off [/bold] needs to be ON! if using a dual layer disc backup 1 to 1 get dvd decrypter to make an .MDS file too this file carries the layer break info! then load the mds file not the iso!
hi the MDS file is a tiny small text type file of say 1kb, but it reads the layer break info of original dvd so it can break at same piont when it copys it to a dual layer dvdr you should have the big iso + mds files, load the mds for a 1 to 1 copy
Ok. So when I go back to DVD Decrypter and select create mds file, it will place the file in the same folder as the DVD files? Will this turn "DMA: OFF" on?
So when it is time to burn, do I burn the mds to the DVD first, then the ISO right after? I'm still a little confused.
@GAWright, You only need to back up the "MDS" file - no need to back up the ISO once you're done with the MDS file. I strongly believe that if you have the latest from DVD Decrypter (version 3.5.4.0) and you accidently picked the ISO file to burn, DVD Decrypter will say "you should have selected the MDS file instead of this one", just click OK and it will automatically grab the MDS file for you.
@GAWright - i'm late stumbling on this post, but as to the Nero log... - too old, latest is 6.6.0.16 - can't find too much info re firmware on this drive..i think this drive may be rebadged as HP drive - yup, Nero's tool old, it's not recognising your drive properly. Update Nero. - that readout doesn't look complete to me, this is an example of what mine says - so to me, the firmware's either out of date, or the media is newer than the firmware can understand properly
So tell me, creaky. Will updating Nero allow me to backup my file without having to use the mds process rotary outlined? Or is it just a prelude?
i have purely analysed the logfile and made suggestions. you're gonna need to address those things to ensure continued burning success; i haven't looked at the mds stuff as it's already being addressed, but as i say i've just pointed out things that are wrong with your setup..
You choose the MDS file only when you wanted to burn using DVD Decrypter. Nero is another story -- and yes... updating Nero to the latest 6.6.0.16 is good, it will recognize your dvd burner and dvd rom drives better. Updating is good, it's like you're staying on par with the latest technology. Just a side note here, when it comes to backing up dvd movies your dvd burner's firmware and DMA is a big factor that play in this role. DMA is a must be "on", and firmware "needs" to be current to recognize the current media and it's codes.
Ok. Tried backing up the DVD using Decrypter and it failed. This is the log the I copied: Anybody have an idea what's wrong? It didn't even try to read the disc.
hello GAWright and welcome to ad The main thing is that your dma is turned off you have got to uninstall your driver for your burner then restart your p.c. and let windows reinstall the driver this should get you up and running. As far as nero you should get that updated pretty soon also I think this is the reason for the odd-ball disk/recorder recognition that creaky was reffering to in decrypter just select the mds as this is just a set of instructions that tells your burning app what to burn and where! I am checking on your drive to see if it capable of the dl burns for future refference you can check the link in my sig for media or drive specifications and you should have a copy of this prog(or sim) on hand at all times(it's free) here is the link> http://www.vso-software.fr/inspector.htm btw this is just asking for trouble speed does not win this race have you ever heard the saying "getting nowhere fast" I believe the author was probably having a little trouble backin up a dvd!!
speed does not win this race have you ever heard the saying "getting nowhere fast" I believe the author was probably having a little trouble backin up a dvd!![/quote] Yea. I was concern with that but Decrypter told me the max was at 2.4. I uninstalled the driver before trying the burn. How can I tell if DMA is on?
