    Hello all,

When ripping DVD to ipod in the cucu output settings they do not let you change or update video codecs. They only allow updates/upgrades to be used for creating avi's or other formats. When you choose IPOD VIDEO from the dropdown it greys out all the other options below, so there is nowhere to change the output setting to improve the video codec when ripping to ipod.

Does anyone know if I am wrong and if so, how to change this? The video codec used now really stinks. Frames are choppy and slow..not smooth like on PQ DVD...but I like the rest of this program and would love to use it if I can get around this problem...

Please help if you can and thanks!!

    @sades317 ,
iPod video codec has been included in cucu dvd to ipod converter, you don't need to change the codec if you want to rip dvd to ipod mp4 files.
How to resolve the choppy problem: Click "Settings -> Input Settings", change "output frame rate" to other value, then rip a dvd for a few minutes and see its result.
How to get high video quality: Set "Output size" on the main interface. High quality = Big size.

    Have a try!

Hello and thanks for the reply! I have tried that as well and it doesnt do much. The only time I can see the best result is changing the ouput rate to everything including 30, and that doesnt even look great. Also, the ipod does not react well to recordings at 30, so I stick to 24 fps. I have also increased output size and have tried every other setting possible both in the input and output tabs. I have increased buffer sizes, tried vob files....everything and nothing seems to give me the smooth quality I like...similar to PQDVD quality.

Is it possible to change the video codec in output settings when ripping to MP4? I dont think so..please let me know if there is any way.

Thanks again for your help and sorry for the long post...

    Regards... :)

Why not purchase PQDVD then? I would say (just my opinion) it's by far the best DVD/Video --> iPod program out there. It possesses a wealth of options & adjustable settings in a newbie-friendly interface - well worth the 35 bucks you pay.

I have been using and enjoying PQDVD as of the last couple of days succesfully. It has worked better for me and has been easier to use. I thought I might be able to get by this issue/problem that I have been having with CuCu but it doesnt seem like that is going to happen.

    Thanks for your help!

    Regards..

    Okay then...on PQDVD, a question..

Is it possible to get ffdshow video codec into the dropdown? I can get the ffdshow audio codec into the dropdown but not the video. I would like to use the ffdshow video codec but cant unless I get it into the dropdown. I have the latest version of ffdshow and have tried many times uninstalling and installing but no luck...

    Can you help?

    Thanks in advance!!
