i'vejust has a upgrade with my broadband connection from a 2mb to a 10 mb....problem that i'm having is that its running through usb2.0 and isn't giving me full download speed...was told that if i get an ethernet card this will do the trick...is this true??? thanx gary
Yes.....usb is too slow. You need to get a lan card and install it. Then run the ethernet cable from the lan to the cable modem...im assuming thats what ya get. The lan is about 50.00 usd or under over at newegg unless ya mobo has a onboard lan.:> But usb is very unreliable and slow for cable or dsl modem....ethernet looks like a bigger version of a telephone cord I have this card currently and theres no need to install drivers off the cd that comes with it. Windows has the drivers built in...just install it and windows will find the driver automatically...works good... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833127107 If you bought a modem then the modem should have had a ethernet cable come with it...cause I dont know if this card comes with cable or not....:> Edit...btw...I have a onboard nividia lan and I bridge both the dlink and nividia turning my computer into a router and I have no problems there either. I did this cause it was either buy a router with the voip built in for 130.00 or just buy the voip adapter for 30 bucks..lol. No problems...
