Help!! Nero 7 locks up 1/4 way through while transcoding.

    I was running this for a while now with no problems,until 8.Now every time it gets a 1/4 through transcoding the program and my pc locks up.Did a defrag and a registry fix with CCleaner a new install of nero 7,still the same.Nero was always great for me,I had to try to update..Is there a program out there that has the features as nero,like making DVD-video in 5.1.If you have 2 channel avi If you use the 5.1 in DVD video to encode the end result won't be a true 5.1 DVD?This is what I'm tryng to get at.

    Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
