HELP!!!!.. new with xbox..

hello people...
i just wanted to put Xbox media center on my xbox

but as i did some research i needed to connect the xbox to the computer
go to the dashboard and find all the ip address and stuff
but it turns out that i just have the normal xbox dashboard

firstly i dont even know what kind of mod i have
soft or hard
i got it done by a person..
when i turn on the xbox.. is shows EVOX on the top left side
what is it?

To put stuff into the xbox harddrive.. i need to change the dashboard right... how do i do that..

and once i do that what do i need to do to connect it to my computer
and how to put XBMC. on it

i have tired searching all the info i need for about 24 hours
but no luck.. please help
