I bought a matrix mod chip from a friend that works in his older machine, but not in my new one. I'm not sure of the rev of my XBOX, but it was manufactured on 9/18/03, so I'm assuming it's the latest (V 1.5?). When I install it, the thre vias don't line up in the alignment holes and I can tell that the motherboard has been redesigned from older versions. Either-way, I still get the green LED telling me that it is lined up correctly, but when I cut it on, the XBOX logo appears, then I get an error page displayed as well as the eject button blinking red. What's the deal? I'm guessing the pogo pin isn't making a connection to the G spot via. Can I jumper wire it to the correct via? Where is the correct via? Maybe I should just give-in and buy the latest and greatest mod chip.

you should be able to fill the holes with solder and make it work (or use small rivets like with the chameleon), but the problem is they have moved the d0 point on the newer xboxes. try xbox-scene, i'm sure they have diagrams of the newer boards, then you'd just need to solder from that single pin in the front of the matrix to the d0 point on the board.

**someone please correct me if i'm wrong on this, i mainly try to find older xboxes to mod, so i could very well be wrong on this.

Thanks for the info. Like you said, I'm sure older units are easier to convert, but I actually bought this for my kids and was unaware of the hacking options until recently.

Have installed Evolution on you hard-drive? Mod-chip won't work without it.

matrix chips work fine without evolutionX on the drive. i've done quite a few boxes where the people simply weren't ready to jump into the modded dashboard but wanted the safety of being able to play backed up games (which i have to make for them since you cant do it without evox), so we left the original M$ dashboard on and they work fine, but you dont get the control and functions of evox so anyone who is really into this stuff would want it loaded up, but there are some people that just want to play their backups in case their crazy kids trash the disc or something.
