Im sort of new to the digital surround audio world and i need help on decoding DTS sound im using a Sony STRD1080 reciever with a DTS compatiable JVC DVD hi-fi, the speakers are plugged into the JVC hi-fi (maybe this is wrong) and there are no speakers in the reciever! They are both hooked up with optical digital cord and the Sony reciever decodes DTS, DOLBY DIGITAL ect: because it says it on the screen BUT if i am right to say that i have to connect the leads to the back of the reciever HOW? The jvc's front speakers have 4 wires coming out for both front speakers, but the rest of my speakers, the surrounds and centre are plugs and not wires??? PLEASE HELP

unless u have DVD reciever u cannot hookup speakers to the DVD. For the speaker to work it needs power and lots of it. Hooking optical digital cord from DVD to reciever is first step. Second, connect speakers to the reciever. If your speaker have 4 connectors on the back then u have to connect - to - and + to + with small speaker cable and a pair from reciever to any + and - terminal. Make sure not to hookup a speaker with 2 sets of wires from the reciever because u can blowup the speaker. Also, if u are going to play DVD-Audio in your DVD then u most likely will have to connect analog output from the DVD to the reciever because all most all DVD-Audio playing player will disable digital output.
