Hi scouser I was talking to u a while ago about THE Jtag.I bought it from TMC.I hooked up the Jtag correctly(the red wire at 1 and vvc on the diode) and i have a RS232 serial cable (straight through) running to the Jtag.Everything seemed fine.So when i attempted to run Skymax and click on start,It is coming up with Init JTAG
    IDCODE : FFFFFFFF
Fail DCU, Plesae Restart or Reset CPU Box
...then when i try Jkeys its basically telling me I have a bad connection or no connection.Any ideas???? TMC told me if the connections are right it should be fine but they all seem to be.Maybe my box is done? Just has a red stand-by light on it and nothing more.

The Jtag is a para connection not serial, did you also check/replace the C11 capacitor on the PSU board before Jtag?

I had an "electronic expert" check all my caps and the transformer.he said he seen nothing wrong and they tested fine.So i assume he tested the c40 and the c11! Anyway i was connecting a serial cable into my Jtag...thats obviously my mistake.I did'nt know i was to use a parallel cable for it.Im at this box so long now im thinkin of nose-diving off a bridge...with the box

No problem you can attach a para cable to the jtag kit if you like or go directly from the para port on the back of your PC, (bit tight though at times). Download the Jtag guide in the Starview Documentation folder of Eamos FTA Library at the bottom of my post.

Thanks.I just ordered a 25-25 data extension cable( parallel of course :-D ) so I should be fine when it arrives.Just one more question for you that may seem stupid because I have'nt really been told yet.
Connecting my parallel cable from my printer port direct into my Jtag...is this the right way of doing it? Its just that someone mentioned I should be going into the eurovox and not the Jtag but that did'nt make sense to me.

As said its a matter of preference but the TMC EV Jtag and para cable conjuntion does work and it saves you been cramped up going directly from Jtag to EV, although that is also easy but cumbersome.

Have you tried plugging the Jtag kit directly to your DB25 para port on your pc and then to the Eurovox, you will see what I mean ;)

I know exactly what you mean :) I connected the ribbon cable and the vcc in the eurovox then i plugged the Jtag directly into the DB25 port like you said but still no connection...very annoying! I was told because I have a windows XP my DB25 printer port may be off.Something about making sure the IRQ is set to 378....any idea on how I go about doing that?
