    I have a emachine 550 emonster (Napoli2 MB)

It came with Win98 and shutdown worked fine until i did a clean install with WINXP.

Windows shuts down but I have to wait til it does then hit the power button. If I hit the power button first then WinXP doesnt shutdown properly first.

I know there's a small circuit board behind the on/off switch. Does this board need a driver? If so where would I get one? Maybe some setting in the Bios?

Thanks for any help you can give.

You posted this over in Windows general as well. Double posting is a forum no-no.

Check that you have updated Win XP to the most current stuff. Sometimes there are ACPI issues which are resolved with some hotfixes which can fix the 'no shutdown' syndrome.
