Hello, I have a Philips digital widescreen flat TV 32PFL5332D 32" LCD that I use as a tv/monitor.

I have an hp DC5750 that I use at the media box.

Specs: amd 3800+ 64x2 dual core @ 2.0 GHz with 2 gb of RAM.

It has ATI 1152 express video chipset. I realize I could use a little more horse power in the memory and gpu but for the time being this is what it is.

I am running XP sp2, and I have the tv connected to my pc via a dvi to HDMI connection. I have an issue when trying to play any media files that use the .avi format. If I try to play them in any video player except for the crappy divx video player I get blank display with audio. But when I load the same files into the Divx media player and it works.

I know the simple answer is just use the divx player, but it seems to have issues playing some files that will work in VLC or Windows Media Player.

I have updated all of my device drivers to the most current version I could find and have even gone as far to update the firmware on my television.

If I connect to the box via RDC I can see the video playing in any app.

    Any suggestions?

Even though you have the divx player .It doesnt force the codec onto the other players. And also thought its got .avi strapped to it dont mean its a true .avi .You probly just need a divx codec this has nothing to do with your tv.Tou just need to download a codec they have good ones right here on the site in the downloads section.

    GOOD LUCK

Oh but you said you updated the drivers and your firmware on the TV.

But this has nothing to do with the video codecs on your laptop .Can you see the vid play on your laptop or is it just your TV that doesnt show the video and you can see it on your laptop.
I still think if you got some divx codec pack and installed it on your laptop you'd be rollin. Maybe not.I'm not sure quite what you mean by drivers and firmware.
