here is the problem i bought a modified( maybe flashed or chipped i cannot say ) ntsc/jp xbox 360 from malaysia last month the the guy tried many games on verbatim dvd+r dl and they all worked .but now when i came back to my country i downloaded Gears_Of_War_READNFO_MULTi2_NTSC_XBOX360-SuperX360(which a multizone and prepatched game) from a newsgroup and i burned it on each of these medias :melody,tdk,datawrite and imation dvd+r dl but nothing seems to work i get unreadable disc and please clean your disc error.my problem is that in my country no verbatim media can be found.but i think the problem must be elsewhre as i have a hitachi xbox 360 drive. and when i try the games i burned on my friends samsung xbox360 drive who also bought his in malaysia at the same period they all boot and play perfectly.if the my xbox 360 is flashed with an old firmware how can i know which firmware it is?and is it possible to upgrade it to a better one?if it is a modchip like nme modchip which needs nme associator to burn games how can i know without opening my xbox 360(because i am not a professional).i do not know what to do to get this downloaded game to work.do i need to tweak my lens ?what must i do please help.may be i have dne something wrong when i burned the game with clone cd but why does it work on my friend samsung xbox 360 and not on mine?
if you are running a hitachi you should upgrade to the newest firmware(opa extreme 2.3), it seems to be solving the problem with everyone. just go here http://www.anandtech.com/systems/showdoc.aspx?i=2610&p=3 they have a good tutorial for opening your 360. and when you get the firmware just follow the the readme. if you need help just ask.
ok thanks a lot 98sohc i will try it for sure but where can i download the latest firmware opa extreme 2.3 and the read me on how to upgrade to it ?i am quite a newbie is the readme explanatory enough for me? please Mavzins do understand i live on a small island in the indian ocean called mauritius and here no store sell games for xbox 360 they don't even sell xboxes here we depend entirely on hacking and downloaded content.
The dirty disc message is often a result of the media you use. If the firmware update doesn't fixed it just get some Verbatims online.
I have no way of buying it online as i have no credit card .i depend on this upgrading method entirely it got to work so can somebody please tell me where i should go to download the latest firmware opa extreme 2.3 and the read me on how to upgrade it please?

in the Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth.rar read me it is said To FLASH a drive, it must be in "Mode B" and have "Drive Letter" how do i do that ?
thanks a lot 98s0hc.so i started the process but i cannot get the drive in b mode using slax cd. i have enabled the promise sata ide controller for my p4c800 motherboard and in cmos got the onboard promise controller operating mode set to ide and primary boot device set to my pccdrom. eventhough each time i try to boot the slax cd from the pcdvdrom i get irq errors like irq 5 timed out disabling irq 5 try boooting by irqpoll.i cannot get to the login prompt. please help 98sohc may be while opening my xbox360 i broke something because i hear a sound near the open switch and after connecting it with my pc i cannot get the hitachi lg drive to open but the xbox 360 powers on normally may be because it is not in b mode that is why the open button does not work. i really do not know what to do im lost please help.
does your dvd drive open when the pc is not hooked up? and i know alot of people on afterdawn do not like the "2 wire trick" but it is very easy and effective, it works everytime, to find out how just go here http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/tutorial/xbox360...tutorialv13.pdf it will tell you what you need to do for the wire trick. and as for the dvd drive let me know.
thank god 98sohc i found what went wrong with my drive while opening it i bent the open button small device found on the motherboard so that the plastic green stick that hit the open button small device was missing it when pressed.so i bent it back in position now everything seems ok.for the slax cd i dowbloaded the v2 i am going to try it then i will let you know about my progress.
yes it worked finally .so no need to wait for the login prompt of the slax cd because i realised that even with irq errors that stopped the booting of the slax cd .it did not matter as i was already in bmode.everything works fine now but i somehow damaged the eject sensor of on my xbox360 i think because i must aim and hit with a screwdriver at a particular point of the sensor to get my tray open each time
no when migates it open no problem but the problem is that i have to touch the sensor with a more or less sharp tool like a screwdriver tip for it to open i must have damaged something when i accidently bent it
