Hi all, I'm new to this site and to actually posting but I've got a problem I can't seem to fix. I've been going through many pages to see if I could fix this problem myself, using the information given to others but I really dont understand it. I have a PLEXTOR DVDR PX-800A DVD burner using Windows XP (update 3) burning with Nero Version: 6.6.1.15, Internal Version: 6, 6, 1, 15 (Nero Express). I burned a few DL disks a while back then it stopped working for them, other disks have been fine but still no luck with the DL's. Ive been using Zero DVD+R DL, hadnt wanted to buy really exspensive ones till it was workingm, it was working with these before. I've tried all sorts of things and even useing ImgBurn as recommended, I unplugged my second drive also. The posts Ive been reading have been 1 or 2 years old so Im not even sure if anyone is able to help me. Below are the logs for the last two trys, if you can help me please. I would like to be able to get this working again. Many thanks if you can help! Also a question thats been bugging me is, if the burner gets to this place in the sequence, does it ruin the disk, is that why they dont work? ------------------- Log from Nero Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 2/11/2004 12:54:32 PM NT-SPTI used Nero Version: 6.6.1.15 Internal Version: 6, 6, 1, 15 (Nero Express) Recorder: <PLEXTOR DVDR PX-800A> Version: 1.00 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.1.15 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ? You could probably use a firmware update for the burner however it's not a 'true' Plextor - it looks to be a Optiarc AD-7170A so a quick search isn't giving me much. Switch the media you are using - the ones you are using are made by CMC - not the best. Use Verbatim only for dual layer and for this drive look for ones that are rated no higher than 4x.
Nero 6 version 6.6.0.18 seems to be the best version 6 to run maybe i'm wrong what do you think Binkie ? Just a thought.
Actually, Ive heard that running older softwares with newer burners CAN, and i use the word CAN very strongly (LOL)... cause conflicts. If im mistaken, im sorry. But I have heard it on more than one occasion. Ive also heard of people having problems, where their burners give up on DL discs where they keep trucking on cds and single layer dvds.
Well 6.6.1.15 wasn't bad either I run it on 1 pc. With both programs failing dual layer burning it's looking like a drive/media problem. Which ones would cause a conflict omegaman7? The only ones I know of are Roxio and Nero if the packet writing software is installed. ImgBurn is pretty much conflict free afaik with other programs and should be the reverse too. But hey either set up is different.
I havnt had too many problems with either programs. Roxio 6 recently gave me and my bro trouble. When we installed nero 8, presto If multiple programs have trouble, I would agree that its either media or the drive. Its not uncommon for drives to stop burning dl's where they keep going on other media though. Best bet UNFORTUNATELY is to try a verbatim DL. They are unparallelled! If problem with those, Then see about a drive replacement. Recommend Optiarc 7200+ series.
I hope dkwillis will try a different DL movie . It could be scratched or dirty . Just to rule that out. try a different movie and the Verbatim disc. If you run your PC a lot you could have dust on your burning eye.
