I have an Alienware laptop and was trying to use the Alien respawn discs that came with it. After inserting the image cd the process started but stopped at about 6% it gave me the message "Output error file to the following location A:\GHOSTTE.TXT". I didn't know what to do so I cancelled and restarted my laptop, but when it's starting up I get this message "NTLDR is missing". I just wanted to clear my hard drive without delete Windows. Is there anyway to fix this problem?
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.htm but it's alienware overpriced junk.. so that may not work because the bios might be restricted to not boot from cd.
Thanks for the quick response. I do agree witht the overprice junk comment...I hate this laptop. Anyway, I'll try the steps in the link you provided but what if I use a windows xp cd to do a restore/repair of windows, would that help?
you can try this free bootcd, I've used it before when I had the missing ntldr error. http://tinyempire.com/notes/ntldrismissing.htm this is the file you need to download and burn to cd. this I tried on windows xp and it worked for me. CD-R fixntldriso.zip
