Yesterday I taped something with my video camera on a dvd-r and now i want to be able to put it on my computer so i can edit it on microsoft movie maker. Movie maker says i can't import it from the camera, says "The file C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\My Documents\My Videos\VIDEO_RM\VIDEO_RM.DAT is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker."
Also tried DVD- Movie album and when i tried that, i got this "the disc in drive E cannot be used (format type: Udf1.5)
Set AV format(udf2.0) 4.7 gb dvd-ram disc to the to the dvd rom-drive"

So if anyone can get back to me as soon as possible on how I put this on my computer so i can edit this, that would be awesome. Thanks.

Try NeroVision, part of the Nero suite of programs. There's a free trial available that is fully functioning at:

    http://www.nero.com

    It supports VIDEO_RM files.

TMPGEnc Author supports this file type as well and is an excellent editor. I don't believe the trial copy of version 2.0 supports saving project files so see if the trial version of version 1.6 is still available below and use that instead:
