I have a vcr cassete that i want to write on a dvd. I have a dvd writer on my laptop and i also have a vcr with the cable needed to connect to the laptop

all i need is a simple step to step on what i have to do after i have connected my vcr to the laptop. My laptop has windvd and windvr that i use for the tv tuner

How can i perform this action? all i need is to put what is on that cassete to a dvd

I would start off by downloading VirtualDub. It will allow you to record what your VCR is playing through your pc. Hook your VCR up to your laptop, open VirtualDub and configure it/prepare it (setting save directory, selecting input source, etc) hit the play button on the VCR and then start recording in VirtualDub. It will take however long the movie is to record it so sit back and make some popcorn its gonna be a while. I would recommend though that before attempting this you familiarize yourself with VirtualDub and its interface. It can be a little overwhelming for someone new to this type of stuff. VirtualDub is free and can be found right here on afterdawn.
