   i have just downloaded a movie and the audio is way ahead of the video. the audio's bitrate is 155kbps and the video's bitrate is 104kbps. i was wondering if i could alter their bitrates to make them equal. thanks

   Bitrate doesn't have anything to do with the synch. Read more from here:

   ...anyway, you need to do manual resynching for the clip, using VirtualDub (assuming that the clip is in AVI structure). Relatively good guide is available in here:
