Hi everyone, I hope you can help me out, I just got a dvd burner and want to put some videos to dvd to send to my family, and I just have some quick questions. I've converted my .avi movies into .vob files using winAVI, and for every movie I've converted I have saved the file into a different folder, ending up with five files in each folder: vieo_ts.bup, video_ts.ifo, vts_01_0.bup, vts_01_0.ifo, vts_01_1.vob. Now the file names are the same in each folder so I'm wondering when I burn them to my dvd I'll probably have to rename the other movies that I want on my dvd right? and if so what would i have to rename them to? would it matter? and whats this dvd shrink program i keep hearing about, do i need to buy/run that too even though i already bought winavi? Thank you all in advance
Ok dont rename anything !! have a look at size of each folder you have created you can only fit 4300mb onto a dvd 5 or 8500mb onto a dvd 9 so you may get one or two normal 90min or so movies onto a dvd dvd shrink is free program that can compress dvds and put two or so dvds onto one disk but you wont get any menus etc only a continues play from one to the next check out the guide for shrink here http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php nero vision if you have it can take those vobs youve created and build a dvd with menus
yeah my dvd can hold 4.7 gigs, each movie is 700 megabytes though so im thinkin i can put at least six on each disc... k i wont rename anything, but would nero still burn it all ok if i have six file names all named vts_01_1.vob? and of course the same names for all the supporting ifo and bub files thanks for the reply
are the movies 700mb after onversion check the folders compressed avis are much smaller than the converted files even though the disk says 4.7gb you will only be able to put 4.3gb of movie and have it work "nero vision" will import the vobs and sort out the seperate movies without any renaming
ok do you have 'Nero Vision' ? if so select make dvd and import the vob from each folder and folow the prompts if not you can use shrink follow the guides here under reauthor http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php
