i'm new to the whole scene and i have the nerostartsmart and i'm trying to burn a dvd with home videos and sone dl vids. it starts burning but before it finsihes it fails..and i get a log (i can post if needed) can some one PLEASE! help me! thanks a bunch
@BOWIE Welcome to aD! Best bet post the log - just be sure to edit out the serial # - usually begins w/ 1A, 1C, 5C. Hopefully we can sort this out for ya!
Go ahead and post the log, they will need it. You might also go through the steps you used to burn the video, including such things as type of media, which utilities you used, what type of encoding the files were, and anything you can think of about the process. They may suggest you try a slower burn speed, or a better brand of media, but the logs might indicate what happened.
Go ahead and post your log file, we will then point it out to you so you can edit it out. It nornally starts with 1A2............ or 5C8...... depending on which version of Nero you are using.

NO, the more programs you have running at the same time the more memory you use, so shut down what you dont need while burning but thats only a small part of the problem, attend to the others first.
okay done thanks! when i downloaded nero 6 (i think..) it doesn't look anydifferent. will me old saved project burn with the new program?
It won't look any different - just an update for 'enhancements' and fix known bugs. Your 'old' saved project should burn Make sure you update your drives firmware too. This will hopefully help your drive with the write strategy for the Riteks's. Let us know how it turns out - good, bad or otherwise!
i updated it but i think i'll try that agian..and how do i update my drives firmware? i tried to burn again with the "newer version" and it said it ran out of time which is something that never happend before? i dunno.. :S
Download package 2 also for Nero - this one contains the update to Nero Vision. Here's a link: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe To make sure you installed package 1 in smart start bottom right hand you'll see an icon with a flame in it. Click that on (product center). You should see Nero Burning Rom: 6.6.0.18. If it has that no need to reinstall package 1. To update the firmware: Copy and past the whole ftp link in your browser. Download the file. Make sure no discs are in the drive. Don't have any programs running. Keep the power on (try not to update/flash during a thunderstorm You may need to unzip the file. Then run the file. Takes less than a minute. Reboot and the drive should be updated with the latest firmware. Hope that helps!
