I am not sure about your avitodvd problem but the cue/bin files are an image file. I would load the cue file into nero or some other burner and burn it to an image file (using nero's virtual drive). You can then load nero imagedrive to mount the image. From that you can access the file to re-encode into whatever format that you desire. Alternatively, you could simply load the cue file into nero and burn it to a vcd (if it's a vcd movie) or dvd (if it's dvd). I used to record all of my television shows as dvd's before dvd burner's were affordable. My apex dvd player allowed me to replace my old vcr (ah those were the days). Perhaps the simplest solution to your avi problem would be to use WinAVI - it's fast, usually works great, but you don't have a lot of control over the settings of the output file. However, I think it is definately worth the price that WinAVI is asking.
