In my sig is the specs for my pc. I've had very few problems with my burner. It's always been software or media as the root of the problem the few times there was one. This time it's the burner for sure and I don't know what's wrong. It won't read a music cd or burn one and it won't read a movie dvd or burn one. I've checked the Device Manager and it shows it working properly. I haven't done anything differently than normal. I thought about updating the firmware but that hardly seems like a fix, since it won't read store-bought cd's/dvd's. I insert a dvd/cd, the light comes on, as if reading, then goes off and nothing. When trying to burn music, it reads the disc are dirty. These are new disc. Using TY, Verbatim, Ritek with no success in cd-r or dvd+r. Tried using different progs and all with the same result. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried one of those laser cleaning disks in your burner?

Have you tried to open the computer and clean it all out thoroughly?

Maybe the burner is just broken/worn out. Do you have another unit to swap in and try? Or maybe try your burner on another machine?

I am guessing the third situation.

mine did something like the other day also. i shut off my computer for about an hour. turned it back on and the same thing happened. my computer was not reading my drive. i opened my case blew with compressed air, ran my laser disc cleaner through it. NOTHING. i disconnected the cables on the back of my drive, reconnected, rebooted and it worked. i am not saying this will work for you, but it worked for me. just check your connections on the back of your burner, and also the connections to your motherboard.

You might want to check your IDE cable. My 2500a did the same thing. Went in and cleaned everything. Unpluged everything took out drives. Put it all back together and it worked. For a couple days. Thought the drive was just going bad. So I went and got a new BenQ. Put it in, same problem. Ended up being the cable. Replaced it and the nec worked again.

I'm not aswering this message but looking for help. I have a problem with the same device (ND-2100AD). My problem is that I cannot read, or write to CD-audio or to write normal files. However, I can read DVD (movies) and also I can burn the movie in a new dvd disk without any problem.

How can I fix it to be able to read CD-Audio and burn music CDs. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
