Booted up a new computer i built for the first time. I dont have a keyboard or a mouse hooked up yet. It turns on and comes to the startup screen that reads info on processor, memory, drives, etc. and says it F1 for... and hit del for setup. Of course i cannot do either of these without a keyboard. After about 10 seconds at that screen my system turns itself off. Whats wrong? Is it just shutting off bc i have no operating system or keyboard yet? please help.

You need your mouse & keyboard hooked up, & yes you need to install an OS. Otherwise how does your PC boot up?

yeah, now that you said that it makes sense,no keyboard and i cant even get into the bios so the computer has no reason to stay on so it shuts off!

Your mouse & keyboard is your interface with the PC. The OS organises all your files & software to make it easy to access & use them. If you PC has no OS (subsequently no files, software or anything), then what can your PC do? Ergo, no interface + no OS = No go!

    Zilch!

PS, glad to be of help!

PPS, when you boot up your PC, it is sourcing all your drives, CPU, memory etc. This is just to confirm that there is hardware connected. No more, no less. hence the screen shuts down, it has no info to work with after the initial boot sequence.
