i have been searching the net and manufacturer's of external hard drives to see if i can find external hard drives that have dual power sources? i mean, power via USB cable as well as AC cable?

do these even exist? if not, does anyone know why not?

ps) and i am talking about a GOOD SIZE hard drive, not those 40gb small ones. 200gb and above!

    thank you.

3.5" hd's need 12 volts to spin the motors but usb only supplies 5 volts so all 3.5" externals use ac for power. same goes for external rom drives. 2.5" hd's use usb for power or can also use ac adapter for power.
