i have just received my R4.SDHC.Upgrade Revolution in a small box and downloaded the firmware (v1.09) and starts up with no problems, but when i go into games screen, i can see the list of all the games, but i can`t scroll up or down, infact nothing works, it`s just frozen. Has anyone seen this problem before, can someone help please. Cheers
Are you sure you downloaded the correct firmware for your particular R4 ? as this sounds like a classic case of incorrect firmware..
Hi, i have tried 2 firmwares, the first was supplied by the company i bought the R4 from and the second (ver. 1.09) was from someone on this forum with the same R4(the one in the small box) that had his working fine. I think you`re right though, it does look like a firmware issue. What other firmwares can i try for this R4? Also, my DS is about 3 years old.(UEF14744328) Thanking You Dean
The site in my signature hosts them all, this is a list of known issues - hope it will help. The general rules to eliminate most issues are, 1) Format your micro SD with Panasonics SD formatter (free use Google to find) and use it each time you change the firmware. 2) Download your firmware and extract it straight on to the SD (not onto the PC then transfer) 3) Try the available firmware's - http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ hosts them all, start with the likely candidates and work your way through 4) Ensure the SD is seated correctly in the R4 before putting into the DS 5) Try the paper shim trick - if the contacts to the DS are not good enough then the unit can not draw enough power to run. Put a piece of folded paper or thin card between the DS and the cartridge to push the contacts together 6) Unless it specifically says - the unit can take up to 2GB micro SD's, if it says SDHC then it can take up to 16GB (currently the highest available) 7) Ensure the clock is correctly set on the DS - this upsets some R4's
KITTYMAT, YOU`RE A GENIUS!!!!! Thanks M8, it was the date/time that needed setting, unbelievable, something so simple could corrupt the firmware. Thanks for taking the time M8, appreciate it. Cheers Dean
Glad its all sorted Thanks to everyone who has posted a fix for their R4 - I have just put all the information together to make it easier to see how to (hopefully) get a working R4
