hi there, i have a starview box which has 13 x 7 vents on the top but the remote is a copy one. I bought it from skyboss a while ago but it keeps crashing every time the codes change. I did get a disk with it which had to be downloaded to the box with 2.57 firmware on it but do i need to do it again with the 2.57 fixed firmware to get autoroll on the code change, please help me someone as not sure what to do, thanks

Bad place to buy from :( Yes you need to update it with 2.57eE Fixed to allow it to autoroll. You will find all you need in Eamos FTA Library at the bottom of my post.

You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F.

    Null modem info

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6

If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable.

    USB Adapter info

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...erial Adaptor

These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay.

All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos Library.

You will need the GTromloader, (Starvi*w Software Uploader), found in the Starvi*w software folder of the link.

You will need version 2.57_FIXED firmware for CLONES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder.

    Updating Firmware

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT
that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase
then Download completed message on your PC.

It shouldnt sounds like you have a corrupt gtromloader. Delete it and download it again, if that doesnt work I will send you more info.

Usually when it has a blank model number it may mean you have a corrupt registry file.

No doesnt need to be rescanned but to double check that it has worked, press menu, type 1570 on RC and press the default key. Make sure key emu is on, then exit all the way out. Put it on Sly Sports 1 and see if it updates the codes for you.
