    Hi

Im not sure which topic to ask a question in to get the best possible answers so i figured id start in a general area.

basically, i have had a problem or 3 with dvd recorders breaking before the disc is closed thus making the disc unreadable, in any drive, even a similar (same make and model) dvd recorder. so i now have a stack of (about 500+) dvd's all unclosed and with films/tv shows/porn etc on them.

i have been using isobuster to get to the .vob files, and while this is ok it still fails on a few discs, where it tries to allocate additional memory, then just stops responding. so at some point i will need to find a better way to extract the files. or a program that can close the disc in my computer blu-ray drive.

so after i have ripped the .vob file, they come out at varying sizes, i know this is due to the actual record length and am not worried that some are longer than others. what is worring is that from a file i know to be around 30 mins, every program i use (vlc, wmp, even media info) reports the file at around 1 1/2 mins or so depending on the file size.

i know this is due to the file structure being messed with when ripping the .vob directly, i cant actually get the original structure, so i need help to get these files at the correct length (time wise), as when converted with any converter to any other file it only converts the first however many mins the file is reporting thus loosing most of the actual film or tv program.

i should just say that when played back in .vob format the file plays through to full length (unless it hits the 1gb limit, i have a program to join these when i finally have them converted and right time data).

is there any free or low cost programs that can do what i want, or do i have a useless pile of plastic coasters....

    Me again,

i have found away round the memory allocation then crash issue, just tell it not to try and it finishes as normal. i can then extract the .vob.

still stuck with what to do with it when i have it though.

    Back Again

After a lot of ballache (sorry if i cant use that word), i have figured out some more steps to it.

using VOBEDIT i was able to demux both video files, giving me a .m2v and an audio file i think it was .ac3.

then using ifoedit i remux the files, and saved to my desktop (so i could find the resultant file/s.

this produced 4 files, one of which is a fill length, correct time frame .vob, as the other were not required and only a few kb in length i have deleted these. next is to try and convert it which i dont foresee any issues as its now the right length,

fyi moderators, if no guide on this is already on here, i will be creating one for my own referance and will publish it in .pdf so others can use if needed.
