So my brother and I were able to softmod using Softmod Installer Deluxe 2.0 using Splinter Cell and Action Replay. We were in the process of copying Halo 2 to the Xbox HDD, but we came to realize that there wasn't enough space. We accidently formatted E: and F:. Now whenever the XBOX is started I get no dash! If there is a game in the tray when the XBOX is started it will load the game normally. But when trying to sign on to XBL with it says that I need to download an update. When I proceed to do the update I get the ugly "21 error message."

How can I get the Dash back up? If it seems to boot of off disks normally, can I somehow make a bottable disk with the dash on there and reinstall it?

    Please help, thanks in advance.

I doubt it but if you still have the game saves on your hard drive you can reinstall the soft mod. good luck.

How exactly do I hotswap? When I turn the XBOX on without a disk in there, the screen will freeze at the XBOX "X" logo and it won't proceed any further. When it's turned on, since there is no disk in the disk tray, (which I'm guessing it's set up to boot from the disk drive first) and there is no dash, it doesn't have anything to boot off of.

I'm sure there has to be a way I can make a bootable disk to be able to manage to the files on the hard drive. Once I'm there I can probably install the files by either copying them off the disk, off a memory card, or maybe I could FTP to the XBOX. But I don't know if I can FTP to the XBOX without first having a dash installed.

I really want to get this thing working again :(, so please help.

Yeah, you can try using Auto-Installer Deluxe (AID) or Slayer's Auto Installer first. That should work if you can still load games. If that doesn't work, you can try hotswapping. You would need to start your xbox up (with a game in the tray since your dash doesn't work) then you have to swap the IDE cable with one on your computer. Search the forums or check out xbox-scene.com for more information on that.

If you did a backup before u installed the softmod all you have to do is open up slintercell again load the installer deluxe and go to Restore C Drive and it should restore your xbox back to normal before you ever installed the softmod.. then go back to the installer and install the soft mod again. did u used Itools?
