    hiya,

i have the above burner on a dell inspiron 6000.

I have used it quite a bit but recently it becoming a problem.

First burning DivX files through DivX it would burn for a second then complete and the disc is useless.

Now burning using DVD Decrypter using ISO generated from DVD Shrink it starts for a second and gets a message saying 'Write Protected'

Here is a copy of the log

A couple of things here: Have you tried different media? Good quality media such as Taiyo Yuden or verbatim can make a huge difference.

A lot of memory is being eaten up here. If you are, don't multitask or try and reduce the processes you have running.

i noticed about the memory too....but to be honest i only have avg 8.0
FF3, plus other stuff running in the background...i'll check anyway.

with regards the media, i'll try another dvd brand but i get an issue with cd's when trying to burn divx, yet the cd's work for music/data

one final thing, after unistalling the burner and reinstalling, when i open divx to burn files it says that no burner is found. i have unistalled and reinstalled but have the same issue....

    hacking me off now....

First off..... your DMA is on so you don't have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling your burner!

Update your Nero to version 6.6.1.15a
    Here's how:

Before udating to 6.6.1.15a save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html

make sure you hit the MORE DETAILS AND DOWNLOAD
    [IMG]

THEN FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS THEN DOWNLOAD CLEANING TOOLS
    [IMG]

then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

update to Nero 6.6.1.15a, install Package 1 and Package 2 only:
    http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero6-update.php
reboot and you're good to go!

DO NOT INSTALL PACKAGE 3 AS THIS INTERFERES WITH bURNING!

you are at the minimum RAM for Nero! This must go down in order for Nero to work... shut off unnecessary programs in the background, no multi tasking, no internet..... and even shut off your anti virus while burning!

you are using crappy media 3 rate at best made in Europe crap! You definitely must replace the media! Remember your burner is over 3 yrs old now! Use 8x media and burn at 4x for best results! Use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim (8x only) to insure successful burning!

if this is a Rewriteable disk you are burning too slow.... burn at half the speed of the disk.... if the disk is 8x burn at 4x!

this is a Roxio/Sonic file..... when having problems with Nero it is best to uninstall any Roxio/Sonic program(s)! They don't mix very well! This file interferes with Nero burning! get rid of it!

try all these changes and I bet you will have better results! Post another Nero log if you still have trouble! but do the changes first! Good luck.
