help to unlock boot up screen

    whats up all
    my brother got me a dell latitude d610 notebook
    when i try to start it up it says this pc system is protected by a password authentication system,is tehre anyway i can get around this ??? the guy he bought it from is gone with the wind can someone help ??

    Format the hard drive, and install whatever version of Windows that you use.

    my cd wont boot up when i restart it i cant even get into the setup screen

    are you refering to the bios?

    -Most likly not unless the person that you bought it of put a boot password on.

    It sounds like a BIOS password. You can try Dell as the passord, they used to use that on some of their computers. For a desktop you usually remove the CMOS battery or short out a jumper, but laptops are different. You may have to contact Dell or even send it in to get it reset.

    if got the manual with the laptop or can download from the net, see if there is a section about bios password.
