Ok, this is the second time I've tried this, didn't work the first time. I'm using DVDShrink to compress, then Nero 7 to burn...it has to be DL because of the size...using "automatic" setting on Shrink..and after dropping the "non-english" audio streams, I'm still left with more data than will fit a DVD-5. I'm using Verbatim DVD+R DL and a liton 16x burner, burning at 6x speed (nero seams to lock up when i try Max speed or even 8x) ..but the first time it didn't write right...any suggestions?
@Headborg Try just leaving the AC3 5.1 audio and see if this knocks it down to fit on a single layer disc. It's been ahwile since I did T2 but I remember having to remove quite a bit. If using a dual layer then why not use no compression in Shrink (set to dvd9 - edit>preferences)and just remove the unneccessary audios. I would recommend burning the dual layer at 2.4x also. Make sure your drives fimrware is up to date too.
It worked this time thru, never thought about not compressing it at all will it fit a DVD-9 with no compression? I did have a couple new problems..I had to leave region 1 on so the menu would work..the first disc I burned I made region free..and couldn't get rid or the sub-titles. It's the T2-Extreme Dvd. Now, this second Region 1 copy has Audio Drop Out...how do I fix that...the volume just goes along..then drops real low in spots?
@Headborg Dual layer discs will hold up 7.95 gig so as long as the movie is under that no compression would be needed. Your other problem though has me a bit puzzled - I used shrink to this one - extreme version - and the only problem I had was compression- I just keep the one audio and no problems w/ it. The menu part though I wonder if that due to the dvd player not really liking the dl media - some are very picky w/ it. Have you played both back in the pc and did you have the same problems?

The first one I burned (this time with Nero 7) I started to put it on DVD-9 DL, but with the new feature of Recode where you can adjust the Video quality...I found I could just move the slider left and fit the whole thing on DVD-5, but that was after Shrink backed up with the "Region Free" option. I lost the Audio Commentary (obviously since I only selected Dolby 5.1, but I also lost the Menu controls that allow the movie to play without the subtitles and Interactive extras. When I went back and checked those menus a message popped up telling me that several of the Menus were Region Dependant..so I changed my settings and selected Region 1( US&Canada ) then Shrink again..and burned to DL and it's working fine now..the only thing missing is Spanish Anything(which I no hoblo anyway and left off. But the audio still drops in spots not completely just obviously apparent. ANY SPELL CHECK FEATURE?

There shouldn't be any need to compress the file any further, and since Shrink and Recode are virtually the same program I believe what you are doing is overkill. So now what are you trying to do? Backup to a DVD-5 or a DVD-9? So you removed the correct audio, but is this a reauthor or an entire disc backup? This one is strange also, you don't alter, compress, manipulate in any way, shape or form the audio portion of the soundtrack...you can only include it or delete it. HMMMMMM
The part about using Recode after Shrink doesn't seem to be voluntary...as I've recently switched from Nero 6 to Nero 7..when I open Nero ..select the files to import...Recode automatically Anaylsis begins..Is there an off switch?
You should be opening your files in Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express and adding your files there for burning.
Yes, that's where I used to navigate to with version 6, but now I'm using Nero 7 Ultra Edition.. I click on the Smart Startup..then Backup..then copy entire DVD...and it takes me to the RECODE2 screen...then I import my Video_TS folder just like before with Nero 6....Is there some where else I can do the same thing....without the Analysis thing?
Use Nero Burning Rom, just select it from the applications in Nero. The StartSmart screen works the same as 6.
thanks...so that's what pops out when you click the little arrow on the left..i never had a smart startup with 6.
