Hi I have an LG 37" LCD Flat Panel HDTV model number LG 37LC2D with a D-sub and HDMI Connection. I am trying to hook it up as a second monitor.
When I use d-sub to d-sub (thats the monitor cable right?) I can get a resolution of 1024x768, it looks crisp and clear like it is its native resolution. Well thats great but I bought a widescreen tv to have widescreen resolution. If i step it up to 1280x720 (which I thought would work because that res is 720p correct?) it says invalid format on my tv. I did some reading and tried a program called power strip to force 1366x768 res to it but that didnt work either.
Next I got a DVI to HDMI cable and tried it that way. All things came out the same except it will display the higher resolutions but they are cut off on the edge of the screen, which is called overscan correct?
Anyway what I am trying to get is a crisp 1:1 pixel map at a widescreen resolution. Any help will greatly be appreciated.

    Thank you

If you have an ATI card, here is what to do:
1 - Open catalyst control center
    2 - open "monitor properties 1" (usualy monitor 1)
3 - In adjustments, you can scale the size.
