I just purchased the Panasonic DMR-ES30VS DVD/VHS combo without knowing I could not make copies of my copyrighted VHS tape collection. I need your help before making another wrong decision. I think now I should have purchased some sort of Mac interface and went into my computer...maybe another system soon.

Would this work or is there a better approach:

Connections: Pan ES30VS's S-Video out into the facet Clarifier Classic S-Video input - Clarifier S-Video output back into the Panasonic S-Video input. I hope this accesses the DVD recorder function. Does this make sense and is it a standard connection to allow copying of my VHS library?

    I/O on the Pan Combo:
    Inputs: Composite x 1, S-Video x 1, Analog Audio x 1 • RF (TV) x 1
    Outputs: Composite x 2, S-Video x 1, Component x 1, Analog Audio x 2, Digital Audio Optical x 1, RF x 1

I'm not sure if going output to input on the same machine will work. It depends if there are 2 different sections for the VCR and DVD. What will work if you have another VCR available is use the VCR as the player, run the output of that VCR into the FACET BOX, then the output of the BOX to the input of the dvd recorder. All you can do is try your first setup and see if it works. Like I said it all depends on the internal input/output wiring of the combo unit.
