I have got hold of a PC, has a better processor than my current one, better graphics card and more memory.....Now what would happen if I was to put my old hard drive in this new machine Would it work and just ask for drivers for the different devices... Please help??? Cheers Da_Boo
Well,it may or may not work,it depends on the processors.I was able swap out a sempron 3100+ with a new A/64 3400+ without having any problems. If there is not much difference between the m/bs and cpus it may work. Give it a try and post back with your results.
You would need to set it up in the bios again and you would need to set it as a slave if you already have 1 in there also what HDD is it like IDE or EIDE or SATA Also i think you would need to format it? And if you have two you could set it to RAID 0
Sorry didn't really explain clearly..... I have a 60Gb and a 40Gb in my old machine I want to put them in the new machine that has the better ram, graphics etc...... Cheer for the help so far peeps... Da_boo
Hay mate, u will probley have to format/reinstall windows XP on one of the drives but they should work as long as u have got a spare ide "slot".
Ok, yea they should, you probubly want to format it first then make one a slave and one a master by using the jumpers then just set them up in the bios.....
Ok, thank you for the help. Problem is I don't want to loose the 55GB of data I have on the drive, but it appears there is no way I can just slot the old drive in the new machine as the master???? Cheers Da_Boo
