i have an old xbox that i would like to get back into working order but i dont know what to do or who can do it. when i turn on my xbox the dashboard doesnt come up unless you let it run for about 5 minutes and then you have to restart it. When it finally boots up, when i put a game in, it usually says the disx is dirty or damaged even if the game is brand new. anybody know whats wrong and/or what i can do to fix it?

sounds like the dvd drive is either a really dirty or b faulty, what is the brand? the long boot ups could be the fault of the xbox trying to initialize the dvd rom drive.

you can just use a dvd lens cleaner, it looks like a regular dvd and it has special brushes on it that clean the lens, they make them for cd players also should be the same effect.

yep you can get it at those places I prefer radio shack, that in the case it doesn't work I can return it easily. and no you won't have to open the xbox to use this just hope it works, if not might be time for a drive replacement, which is simple to.
